Is online betting legal in North Carolina?

Must read

Online sports betting is not currently legal in North Carolina. While the state legalized sports betting in July 2019, it only allows for in-person betting at two tribal casinos, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee and Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River in Murphy. These casinos are operated by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

However, there have been recent discussions about legalizing online sports betting in North Carolina. In February 2021, a bill was introduced in the state legislature to legalize online sports betting and allow for up to 12 online sports betting licenses. However, the bill is still in the early stages of the legislative process and it is not yet clear whether it will pass or when online sports betting could potentially become legal in the state.

It’s important for bettors to be aware of the current laws and regulations regarding sports betting in their state and to bet responsibly within the confines of the law.
