The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has undergone significant rule changes over the years as it has evolved from a no-holds-barred spectacle to a highly regulated and professional sport.

Let’s take a closer look at the key changes that have been made to the UFC rules over the years.

In the early days of the UFC, there were very few rules. Fighters were allowed to use any fighting style they wanted and there were no weight classes or rounds. The only way to win was by knockout, submission, or the opponent’s corner throwing in the towel.

In response to criticism and pressure from politicians and regulators, the UFC introduced several new rules. Weight classes were introduced, and fighters were required to wear gloves and shorts. Time limits and rounds were also introduced, with fights consisting of two 5-minute rounds and a third round in case of a draw.
